MPG Nomad 1600

Newbie here- Sorry to beat this horse again. I have an 08 Nomad with Cobra True Duals, Fuelpak, and K&N filter. I searched the threads and found anywhere from 20 -50 mpg on this bike with various mods and riding styles. I'm getting a consistent 33 on 89 octane. That seems low to me. I don't flog it, but do ride 2 up most of the time. Anyone out there have a similar set up?

MPG can fluctuate greatly between bikes, riding styles/types, location, and even the fuel you use. 33 mpg seems about right given the mods you have. More air into the engine means more fuel being burned which lowers average MPG.

My 2006 Nomad got 40mpgs and after spending a small fortune I now get 200 miles a tank before the low fuel light comes on leaving 1 gallon of usable fuel left

Fuelly.com is a good place to see what people who track their MPGs are getting.

Here are ratings for the Vulcan 1600 Nomad - http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/kaw...can_1600_nomad

Since adding the Dobeck TFI, Caddman intake and Cobra longs, my app says I am getting 32.xx MPG.

V H pipes, Hyper charger and NO fuel processor, and I still get 40-42 riding 2 up in the mountains with camping gear! Go figure!

With TBI, Hyper charger, BUB duals & E-3's on Regular......I now get 35+ mpg. Before the E-3's I was lucky to get 32 mpg ( hwy / trip)and 28 mpg combined. I ride 1 up.
2003 Nomad 1500fi, tank capacity from completely dry to bottom of filler neck is 5.0 gallons, iaw MOM. Low fuel light comes on with about 1.6 gallons, witch sounds about right as I usually put about 3.4 gallons or so in A.S.A.P. once light comes on.

My 2006 Nomad, stock, got 42 mpg at 55-60 mph, 38-40 at 70-75 mph, and after spending a much smaller fortune than BD I now get 300 miles to a tank before the low fuel light comes on, leaving 1.5 gallons of usable fuel left.

I get 42-44 on average on my 05 dual baggers and k&n air filter. Iridium plugs installed last month did not make any change in mph. I do run 93 gas and 40F 42R psi

thanks

Thanks to all who replied. I love this forum.I think it's so cool all the different ways that folks set up their bikes. From the responses I got, it sounds as if my mpg is about right for the mods. Look for a gas station when the light comes on and enjoy the ride. Autumn in New England... It's special.

Could some of the wide variation in mpg's be due to tire size? With the stock tires, the speedo is off to high side so it would make sense then that it would look like you traveled further than the actual distance.

My 07, 1600 nomad gets 32/33 mpg with a fairing and rear trunk, V and H pipes, 2 K and N filters, Cobra FI2000. With out the trunk, just the fairing I get 33/34. NO fairing or trunk 35/38 mpg. Run reg gas (87) all the time. Bike runs great and have lots a power when I want to play. Before any mods stock I got 38 running 92 gas. So even at the low of 32/33 on reg, money spent on fuel is about the same per mile.
