Thinking of a quad to play with. Not looking for race ready but something for trail rides. Looking at Honda TRX250EX With rebates the price is affordable, any one have good or bad to add.

I've had a number of different quads in years past- it'd be hard to go wrong with anything Honda- at least as far as reliability and resale are concerned.
I can understand the price of a 250EX may be enticing, but I think you might grow disenchanted with the horsepower, or lack thereof, pretty quickly. You'd spend considerably more for a 400EX, but have a lot more machine. If you've got youngsters around, the 250EX would be a much more docile ride for them, for sure. The 400EX would have a full manual cluth, different from the 250EX's semi- auto..... |

We use them here mainly for hunting, Id get the biggest 4x4 I could afford. Most times you don't need all the power until you get stuck in mud, then you never have enough. And it also depends on the terrain that youll be riding on most of the time as well.

hi,
craigs list and the Yamaha 450 is a great machine, great reviews. 250 is like an 800cc motorcycle, fun, but within minutes you'll want more power. anthony |

So many choices. I have been talked into 4 wheel drive for sure. Polaris comes up in just about every conversation. I have been offered a chance to barrow one any time, may take him up on the offer. Maybe a letter to Santa

Polaris is very popular where we last lived- Minnesota- also.
Where I rode, which was mainly forest roads and trails, there was a place for a 4x4, for sure, although friends and I enjoyed the sport ATVs alot because of their handling, speed, etc. A lot of what you buy depends on what type of riding you want to do. A big 4x4 wouldn't be much fun in the sand dunes compared to a YZ450 Yamaha, for example. What's amazing is how you start looking at something that's $3,000, and end up looking at something that's $8,000.00. |

That is what i am feeling exactly!!! After looking at 2 different dealers yesterday I believe I have talked myself out of needing a 4 wheeler. The price they want for used ones wow. I will watch for someone trying to sell one . Thanks for your input. Still on the lookout

It is true some of the used stuff can bring a high price- and it doesn't even have to be in very great shape. It may be time to start tricking out that Nomad, papa...... |
