Maybe someone in California could pick you one up and send it to you. Even with shipping it would be a deal.

I can check and see if the North Bend store still has one and ship it if someone really wants one.

Right now I have two people interested in purchasing these. If a third person wants one there will be no shipping from Parts America to me, so all you'll pay for is the part and shipping from my place to yours. Anyone interested?

I've got three orders and will be taking care of it tonight. My wife isn't as comfortable about this as I am--she's the pessimist in the family, and I am the eternal optimist--and is saying, "are you sure that they'll pay you back?", but I must say that all of you have been so kind to each other, and I must say that I really enjoy your friendship. I really hope to meet so many of you in Custer...I really hope that I can go!

Rksaw. Tell your wife not to worry we will take care of you. I know personally I really think it is super nice of you to do this for us.

Your wife is right to be cautious, but I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've done stuff like this for people here and on other forums, and others have done the same for me. I don't know anybody who hasn't followed through as promised. You're doing something nice for folks and they will act accordingly.

I just thought of this - you should have heard Mrs. Cactusjack when I told her I was going to the rally in Mesquite. "Do you know these people?" "What if they're a bunch of weirdos?" I reminded her I'm a former Marine and can handle any situation confidently. Sometimes they don't understand.

Cactus, I get the same thing about going on rides with strangers. Unfortunately women need to get a mindset of watching out for strangers that men don't need to worry about so much.

Thanks for your help rksaw, you're the man.

Hey C.J. and Dan,
My wife thought I was crazy making plans to go to the National this coming summer. She said almost the exact thing as what your wife said C.J.. I think you're right,.. they just think differently than "us guys". If a problem arose I'd deal with it then. Frankly, I'd be disappointed if there wasn't at least one weirdo at Custer. I might be the only one.
And as far as what rksaw is doing, I think it's nice gesture. It's probably too late, but there is always the option of Pay-pal rksaw, then that issue is dealt with. Remind your wife that the people you're doing this for are taking the same risk. They could/might wonder if they'll get what they're "ordering". I have had the same type of favor done for me on this site and never gave it a thought about not receiving my goods. I hope that person didn't doubt my honesty. My gut feeling is that the people I "see" on here are decent, caring people.

Well sorry guys, that didn't work out. :-[

I tried to take care of it but even when talking to customer service they said that the warehouse was out of them. Apparently only individual stores may have them in stock and it's hit or miss as to which have them. The customer service guy I talked to didn't know which stores (he said his system wouldn't allow him to look at individual store inventories) had them in stock.

According to "Jim" the cruise control was only sold at stores in the West. The stores that carried it were Chucks', Schucks', and Cragens'. Sorry guys, I wish that I had been more help, but I've run into a brick wall.

That would be Checker, Schuck's and Kragen. Same company, regional names. It was nice of you to offer to help out.

I was surprised when you said you could have them shipped to you. The online ordering system would only let me pick them up in person at the store. BTW, when BobZinger first mentioned these, every Checker Auto Store in greater Phoenix had them, now they are very hard to find. I think each store had one in stock.
