Magnetic Oil Drain Plug

Kevin,
Where did you get your magnet set up? I like that idea. Goes on the filter does it??

Magnetic Oil Drain Plug

The Kubota tractor, I service at work has a magnetic ring around the top plate of one ot the hydraulic filters, and that is a OEM filter. Guess their must be some benifits to doing it if the mfg. are using them in certian instances.

Thats right Greg; I used to have hydraulic filters that had magnets inside, what we are doing is the same thing, but you get to reuse the magnet again when you change the filter.
Some of the fine particles are also from non magnetic metal , such as the pistons and sleeve bearings. The biggest enemy of this type of wear is sucking air in the intake with a poor air filter or no filter at all.

These magnets, do they just go on the inside of the oil filter? Than clean them off on the next oil change and use them again?? Would there be a risk of them getting into the inside some how??

You just stick it on the outside of the filter, no need to install them inside the filter.
