First ride of the year

I've seen a few crotch rockets the last few days but I finally said the heck with the bit of snow in front of my house and went for long awaited ride. It was only 30 km (18 miles) but boy was it great! Hoping this was the start of spring in Calgary!

First ride of the year

hey roox.....Awesome that you got to ride already. The only thing holding me back is all the sand and small rocks still on our highways. I'm hoping for a couple good dumps of rain to wash things off a little. Can hardly wait! :)

I agree. Slow on the corners and head to the country to get away from the sand and gravel! But after a longggg winter I don't mind going slow as long as I am going!

First ride of the year

There were a few times that I could have gone out for a ride here but they use so much salt on the roads. I don't want to get any on the bike since it would be almost impossible to get out of all the nooks and cranny's. Im hoping I'll be out on the bike within the next three weeks.

Been out on KLR a couple o times already. Yesterday was friggin a beautiful day - didn't need anything but First Gear Jacket and rain pants - managed to put a 100 or so Km's on it - Bragg Creek / Chestimere back to Calgary. Now if the Ice / Water was outa my back alley maybe the Nad could get out!!

Nothing like the feeling of the first ride of spring! Mine will probably be about a month away. Can't wait!

Still waiting for it to dry out enough to get to pavement. When you live on 1 1/3 miles of gravel roads, you have to have it dry. Snowed again this morning and they are talking more end of the week. Crap.

First ride of the year

I always ride New Years day. Don't care what the weather is like.
Last Sunday the wife and I headed out to the mountains of N.Georgia and S.C.
Snow was still covering the mountains and the ice sickles were all over the sides of the mountains...Beautiful!
Been freezing my butt off at the local PGR ralleys so I finally ordered a heated vest and gloves.
For what it's worth, it's snowing it's ass off .. again right now... in Georgia.
