Question Fuel leak

Could any one tell me if they have had a problem with fuel leaking from the gas cap? I don't fill my bike past the basket in the tank and this problem just started. I am new to your forum and would value any help given.

Gas can leak from the cap if the gas tank is overfilled and its hot out.
I doubt either one applies to you right now ?

Mine leaked when I first bought it. Apparently one of the vent holes were plugged right under the cap..

Check to make sure the tank is venting, usually they will whistle on a warm day, kind of hard to test that way at the moment. You can take the gas cap apart and check to see that everything looks ok in there. Also check the overflow rubber hoses to see that they are not kinked anywhere.

She does not whistle anymore and I am building up a lot of pressure. I was thinking it was the cap but that does not explain where the gas is coming from when its standing still. Gas will pour down the tank as the tank warms in the sun.

When you say "I don't fill my bike past the basket in the tank"
Are you filling it with the bike on the sidestand?
That is the preferred method.

I would not think so either, in fact by standing it up you would actually take on less fuel I think. I don't know for sure if I did I might be able to fix the problem with out bringing every Vulcan rider in the world in on a simple fuel leak.

As I mentioned earlier, check all the hoses and the cap, something seems to be blocked.

Could it be a kinked vent hose?

And welcome to the forum from a fellow Arkie

Thanks for the welcome Budman. It's amazing how many Nomads you see in Arkansas I never noticed them until I got one.
