Final Drive..

Hey. Im finishing up my swing arm maint and Im looking at the final drive spring 92081-1183. Says to install with the small end to the final drive. Damn thing looks the same on both ends. I do however have some yellow paint on one end. I installed the drive with that yellow paint/marking towards the final drive. Is that what the yellow markings are telling me?

Had it all laid out as it came off, but it got bumped and the spring came off.

If it says that, measure with caliper, and put smaller end where it supposed to be....
I think the engineers were enjoying the saki a little too much during their engineering sessions....

Prolly So. I have seen the same yellow markings on the new springs via the picture of said spring. I installed it toward the drive. I am at a stopping point now so if its wrong I can pull it apart and re install...

That spring will stay on the collar of the steak-nut (big nut on the end of the pinion gear), and not fall off if you have it on correctly.

/\ /\ what cliff said....small end of spring on the end of the nut on the final drive and it will help hold the spring on there.....not always tho. I have had to tighten /the spring smaller so it would stay on there!

well it didn't pop off when I installed it and good tension. So I guess the yellow markings do go to the drive side lol. Wasn't a hard job, just time consuming the first time. Took a good part of the day. But then I had to go buy a 22mm socket for the pivot bolt. Also my axle nut was 27mm not 17 like gadget says. All and all was not a bad job. I think its all about the order in which you remove parts. Next time I will know and it should go quicker now that I have the sockets I need.

Head bearings are next. I noticed when the front tire was in the air, that the bars would not move in a fluid motion so to speak. If I put them center, they stayed there. Would not fall left or right unless I bumped them. I don't think they should do that. I would think they should move smoother..

Thoughts??
