If I have it figured correctly it would be the night of June 14th...someone please double check me on this.

I have never been there but looks like it is outside of downtown, easy highway access, lots of parking, well lighted, easy to find, clean, sounds like restaurant(s) next door (so no one has to ride after a refreshing beverage).

Because this will be just a "stopover" for most rather than a destination I think we need to keep it easy/simple (agree?).

Is this the one you had in mind?

If anyone has local knowledge of the area and know of any better alternatives please chime in!!

I like the Best Western idea. It is very handy right off of I-90.

The actual date of the stopover though is Saturday night June 13th. We will be in Billings Sunday June 14th then arrive in Custer Monday June 15th. I sure hope you can make it the whole week...but I know it will depend on circumstances.

See what you can find out on group rates...I don't know how many rooms for sure. I know BigJohn is planning to camp...so it will be me, you, maybe Rich, Rickyboy and two or three others from Canada that I know of....but there sure could be more by then.

I just think we should secure something now and get the word out to everyone so we can start firming it up. If you can get a commitment from them, lets make an executive decision and go with it. I appreciate you looking into it for us :)! Let us know what you find out and we'll go from there!

You are right...I forgot about the night in Billings. My village is missing there idiot.


So the 13th it is..I will post what I learn under the "Missoula" thread. probably tomorrow afternoon.

If I remember right, the Best Western is across Grant Street from a Country Crock/Kitchen. It's easy on, easy off. I could be trempted to hotel it that night. That's going to be a good long, hard day.

Kalispell or Whitefish, MT (Glacier National Park...Going to the Sun Road....

The Kalispell area is great with the Glacier National Park being one of the most scenic I've ever done. Albeit when there is construction on that road, it's a pain in the arse, but when your stopped for the road construction, it does give ya a chance to really look over the country :-) Since our son lives near Kalispell, (Big Arm) we have ridden that area several times. The first was on our way to a VROC rally in Alberta in 2004 I think. From our place in Mtn. Home, we usually take hwy 93 up to the Kalispell area, then on the way back, cut over onto Lolo Pass, down to Kooskia, then on hwy 95 to home, which is a great ride.

That is great info for me as I will be taking hwy95/Lolo pPass on the way up or back (not sure which yet) on the way to Missoula or Custer.
