one less Nomad on the road

Well I got to take my turn at feeling the pavement sliding beneath my leather covered body, and I must say that the pavement was much softer then I had anticipated. My wife and I are fine (very sore nothing broken) and my friend and his wife will recover from their broken wrist. My bike on the other hand didn't fair to well. It was a great day for a ride as we were riding the rose city 250 we were about 2 hours into our ride when we went down. I was lead bike and my friend was staggered formation 2nd in line. we came up to or next turn and as I slowed and turned on my signal, my buddy didn't see me do any of this and was going to go strait. All I saw was him next to me and his tires screeching as he locked up his brakes, but by then it was to late he was passing me and our mirrors hit as he went by. his hand or jacket caught my break lever and pulled my grip from my hand. causing me to lose control of my bike and drop us on the ground. the nomad let us off on the right side and as the guards hit the ground the bike flew out and away from me flipping onto its left side and top, yes it went tire side up. I believe the bike was upside down for a few yards. I don't know what the extent of the damage is as of yet, but I do believe it is very bad. :'( the whole left side and most of the right side as well as the top of the sissy bar and windshield has damage. my friends bike (a Vulcan 800 classic) did very well through it all not to much damage just the left side of his bike was damaged. we are all very sore but thankful to be alive.

:'(Kelly, I am so sorry to hear this. As always I am thankful to hear that everyone walked (limped?) away. I hope you will be back riding soon.

Goes to show you really need to pay attention to what's going on in front of you.

Sorry to hear about your accident Kelly. Glad to hear you and your wife weren't hurt any worse than what you were. Too bad about the Nomad.

:-( ouch
If you want another Nomad in the near area, I just saw one at the Lynnwood Cycle Barn. Didn't stop to look, but it wasn't there last week.
Glad you guys are OK.

Super bummer.....but glad it was not worse. I lead a lot of group rides and always use hand signals as well as turn signals just for this reason. I also check my mirror to make sure that the person behind me also has his signal on or is otherwise mirroring my hand signal. If I don't see it, I don't turn. Not that this helps you now, but it might help someone else from suffering the same fate. Hope you heal up quickly and find yourself back in the saddle soon...

WOW, hope you and your wife feel better. So sorry for the Nomad. I rode for the first time in a group ride and had to be very mindful of the bike in front because before I knew it, I was getting really close, too close for comfort. I can see how that could happen. Don't wait to get back in the saddle. The longer you wait, the harder it is. Heal fast.

Wow, sorry to hear this. As you may know, I went through a similar incident recently and my Nomad is off the road for good. I didn't have any leather on, except for gloves and had some pretty nasty road rash for a couple of weeks. You'll be stiff and sore from the tumble for a few days.

Don't be surprised if the insurance company totals your bike.

I hope you and your wife are both 100% again real soon. I don't care what you say, pavement ain't "soft".

Sorry to hear this, but glade it was not worse for you, your wife or your buddy. Formations do have their own set of dangers and I myself prefer riding in a loose one. Hope you all heal up quick and are back into riding soon.
