Just another comment to support that is seems to be the nature of the beast. Mine had sat in a unheated garage for about 2 months without being started, until we had a 55 degree Saturday couple weeks ago. When I first started it I was thinking holy crap, what is wrong. I was double checking the ground for oil too LOL. Then I remembered I had heard the same thing when I had started it last spring.
Let it warm up good and took a ride about 50 miles. When I started it after a lunch break, I really didn't notice it anymore. I guess I do wonder if this condition causes some extra wear, but doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it, except maybe start it every few days throughout the long cold winter

Hey everyone, I did get out for a ride last week and the sound did go away.
Last year I rode my 900custom all winter long, thats why I never heard it. It never really sat more than a week. I just thought cause of the bigger bike something was wrong. This year havin more snow has really sucked, not being able to ride. hopefully this week I will get another ride in its supposed to be 2c(36f) all week. |
