If you care to know....

Well it's been 3 month's since I fell at work and tore the MCL in my left knee. For the most part it is a lot better than what it was at the start.
Completely better?? No way!
My doctor,... seeing that I seem to have plateaued, he decided to send me to a specialist. {a surgeon} I went today { Tues.} and he is sending me for an MRI. He figures there <s>is</s> could be more damage than what was first thought. The good news is that it MIGHT not require surgery ...wait a minute ::) isn't that how he makes his money?? He says he won't commit until after he sees the results of the MRI, but it might just require more time and a different brace that I wouldn't wear all day like I do with the one I wear now.

As a side bar, ... he was asking for an expedited MRI. Because if it wasn't expedited, it could/would take 11 months to get in. My question {that I didn't ask yet} is how soon is expedited? ....2 or 3 months?? I will be calling the office to get that answered,.......
if they can do that.

Good luck Rick, Here in Alberta, I have had two MRI's at separate times on separate knees and both took about 11 months to get into. Another approach is to call the hospital and ask to be placed on their cancellation list. This way they give you a call as soon as there is a cancellation, this can speed things up quickly if you are able to make the cancellation time and date.

Bummer Rick, but that is socialized medicine for you. I recently had to go get a complete body scan looking for any more signs of cancer (none found) after my eye incident....and I got in within a few days of calling the Radial Imaging clinic. Of course I had a referral, but this is why people here in the States are so afraid of "Obamacare", because of the limited, rationed care it will lead to.....

Hope you get your leg healed up soon, regardless of what you have to do to get it repaired....good luck and hope to see you soon!

Hey Rick
Well, that sucks that the injury may turn into a long term repair. I've had a trick knee for a lot of years and its a pain in the arse.
But look at the bright side. Lots of time off work for unlimited riding on your beast! Gotta like that. :)

On a side note, the weather for the Memorial Day weekend is looking some better! :)\

Mike

Rick,

Sorry to hear the latest assessment of your Dr. There's always a bright sight to the things that we don't necessarily like so try to make the most of your extended medical leave.

Hope to see you soon.

E.
