Man!!! Not now !!

I'm wee bit depressed :( ...
The weather is gorgeous here today and will be for the rest of the week, according to the local "weather guy". I had plans of getting a permit for the rest of the week and for the weekend and get some early riding in. But....... I fell at work the night before last and twisted my right knee and ankle, bruised/hairline cracked ribs on my left side and in general hurt all over. I was lucky though not to hurt my low back much. That would have been a disaster, as I have had surgery on it before. So now I get to sit in the sun on "the deck" with a brace on the knee, bandaged ribs, .....and dream of riding, with the sound of motorcycles off in the distance. Do you feel my pain??? :'( :(

Man that sucks! I spent most of December and January in severe pain from a lower back problem, but it was ridiculously cold out and tons of snow, so riding was not an option for me anyway.

Just get better for that spring ride out here so we can get you all hooked up with the fairing :)

Ouch...thats sucks! I'll be thinking of you this Saturday and Sunday while I'm putting another 400 miles under my ass... .

Seriously....take it easy and get healed up....you don't need problems down the road as we get into summer.

I'm a little uneasy myself these days. On a recent eye exam they found a small tumor at the rear of my right eye socket that wasn't there before. They sent me to a specialist, only to have him send me to another specialist at the University of Washington. I have yet to see him, but obviously I'm a bit concerned. Could be nothing….could be the C word…won’t know until a later date. He says we have caught it early whatever it turns out to be, so that much is good I guess…

Getting older sucks....and all these pokings and tests and ultrasounds and MRI's can get in the way of the things we really like to do. Never take today for granted, because none of us are guaranteed tomorrow....

I will be praying for you heal up quickly Ricky and for a good "C" free report Kris. I have had a spot on my right retina that is called a "Neevus or Neebus" for many years now. It's actually a freckle that can grow and develop into something worse. My optometrist takes pictures of it every eye exam and measures it for any growth. So far so good. I still think about it often though. Ricky, did you fall from above grade or on a flight of steps? I'm sure you noticed that we don't heal up as quickly as we used to. Take care and keep ice on those twists and bruises. It's the best anisthetic on the market for that type of injury. You guys keep us posted on your progress.

Man!!! Not now !!

Hey there,.....I fell backwards off a 6-8 inch step. I turned as I fell and the area didn't allow for my boot to turn completely with my body, so the knee joint took "the hit" so to speak. My upper body fell against a guard rail that stopped me from falling about 12-15 ft.. That's where/when I hit the ribs. I'm on the ibuprofin once or twice a day. But after only a couple of days the knee is feeling better.
I hope to be back to work next week if all goes well.

Kris, I hope things turn out good for you and I'll be saying a few words for you. Let us know how it goes.
Ya as we age the bumps and bruises we get take a bit longer to heal.

Thanks to both of you for your best wishes.

Oh, yes, I do. I know it too well. Get well soon!

As for riding, I opened the season almost two weeks ago. I also thought of buying a day permit but I figured, if I can ride 3-4 days in a month, I might as well insure the bike. That calculation has been working great so far.

Speedy recoveries again, Rick.

Keeping fingers crossed, Kris and looking forward to your good news. And I echo "getting older sucks" my Dr. prescribed me reading glasses two days ago. While it's not that serious, I don't like the aging thing.

Cheers,
E.

Mike,
Are talking about the trip to Medicine Hat? If so the answer is no. I plan on doing it ASAP when I know the roads are clear and good/dry. I want to be sure I'm not going to hit a late storm or blk, ice. I'm guessing May as being the earliest. June being the most likely time though. I'll be checking in with yoiu as the time comes closer as I might stop in and see you on the way. Maybe you'll have room for a couple of riders....... ;)

Hope you guy's heal up soon. Ya, I've noticed cuts and such are taking a lot longer to heal up as I get older also.
In Alberta it costs $644 a year to insure my bike. They don't allow me to take it off in the non riding months,(well I could but it would still cost the same) it sounds like you guy's have the advantage of paying for only the riding months in BC.
It's been 20 years since I lived there, is the Insurance still controlled by your Provincial Goverment?

Thanks "leadbelly" I hope we do as well. I'm off to the "doc" right now to see what he says.

About the insurance,......Yes and No. The people of BC must buy at least, the basic insurance coverage from I.C.B.C. {gov't portion}
and then if you want you can choose your PL and such from a various number of private insurance coverage. This is what I do. It's a bit cheaper than going all the way with ICBC.
When the basic/must have portion from the gov't runs out my private converts to storage coverage automatically and if I ever want to ride for a day or so or maybe a week, I just have to go to any agent and take out a permit for the basic. One day is $27. 2 days $35 and so on.

Hey "E" who do you insure with? I'm with CDI ..... a lot of friends are with Megson, Fitzpatrick.

Rick...I hope you heal fast. And yes I feel your pain. I have been on crutches the last 2 weeks (blew my ankle playing bbball). 51 Years old and too stupid to quit playing...been playing 3 days a week for the last 30 years. I don't see myself quitting yet, I am not smart enough to do that.

My wife is having a hard time figuring out how come I can't mow the lawn with a bum ankle but I CAN ride my Nomad!

Kris, Well I already PM's you about this but I sincerely hope you get a clean report back on your eye.

Let's ride!

...My ole Pa used to say "Don't get old, you won't like it". He was talking about how everything gets tougher to do and all the aches and pains and hurts take longer to heal. He was so right. Hope you guys are all healing ok.

I use Hub International for my collision on the bike. I got a quote from Megson Fitzpatrick but they were higher than Hub.

Rick, yes, I was referring to your Medicine Hat trip. Of course you are welcome to crash here so long as my house don't sell in the meantime. If it does, we likely will be living in our 5th wheel for the summer and there ain't a lot of extra room in there. And I was thinking of making that trip to Alberta with you if you don't mind. Time will tell if that will work for me. :)

Mike,
I'll look up this Hub International insurance.

I'll be sure to keep you "posted" on when I plan to head out. You're welcome to ride along.
