your thoughts on Mustang seat upgrade

Hello all,

I've an option to upgrade my 2005 1600 nomad stock seat (and Airhawk) to a very good condition Mustang seat BUT I'd be stretching the budget to get it done. Anyone tried the Mustang seat? What kind of review would you give this upgrade?

all advice appreciated

I've put a Mustang seat on the last three bikes I've owned. I couldn't take the stock Nomad seat for more than about an hour. I put about 50,000 on that Mustang seat.

It's the best upgrade I've ever made to any bike, and well worth the outlay. If you can get one used... even better. They don't deteriorate with age, like the OEM seat does.

The improvement is especially noticeable for your pillion, and I was easily able to convince mine that the expense was entirely for her benefit.

went from stock which I rode on for over a year and couldn't deal with anymore to a Mustang about a month ago...no regrets in the purchase at all.

My wife and I have had 4 Mustangs on 4 bikes with close to 140,000 accumulated miles. Is that an endorsment?

I found it to be a definite improvement. I have an Alaskan Leather Sheepskin I use occasionally to help with butt burn.

My Mustang seat lets me drive all day without any issues. I take a 10-15 min break between tankfuls. I have an Airhawk also but rarely need to use it. My only complaint is that the backrest has collected water during heavy rain and is tough to dry out.

I found a used Mustang two piece with back rest for $400 including shipping on Ebay.I like the two piece so I can go solo if I want.Once you get a back rest you will never go without one.You can find some good deals on used seats and they are already broke in.My fourth Mustang and happy with all of them.

I put over 40,000 miles on my last bike in a Mustang seat. When I upgraded to the Nomad, it was the first purchase I made for it. I had back surgery several years ago and I absolutely wouldn't and couldn't do without one!

I just purchased a mustang seat for my 05 nomad, before going on a 6 day ride through Georgia, my opinion, it stretched my budget a little but my butt sure did appreciate it... i had my stock seat re-worked with the foam cut out and a supracore put in, should have put that money towards a new mustang...but that is just my opinion....

I put a Mustang with a back rest on my new 2007 and it now has about 51000 miles on the seat. Took a while to break in but now I can go all day with no issues. Just completed an Iron Butt ride in 18 hours with no problem. Love my Mustang.

Stock seat - 100 miles. Mustang seat - 28,000 miles. Great by itself locally, use sheepskin for longer trips and a fantastic combination... passenger is even more comfortable with sheepskin... keeps them from sliding around on the seat!
