When biking in cooler weather, I always think back to my youth and snowmobiling in sub-zero temps. Never even thought twice about jumping on a sled and hauling ass across the Lake Michigan ice at 60+ mph. My blood must've thinned out some.

Another transplant from cold country eh ponch? You moved to Arizona from Colorado didn't you?
It was cold this morning, wasn't it? When I left home about 06:15 it was 41° at the house and I hit some areas with a lot of open space that must have been around 35. I had my neoprene half mask on to keep my chin and nose warm.

41˚F is hardly cold enough to break out the balaclava.

I don't know. We hit a spot that probably had 25 mph winds whipping across some farm fields early on. It was damn cold for a few miles there. I stopped and put on the half helmet ear cover and a scarf.

It's like that in Iowa all the time and try it when it's 20 out. Just saying. It'll take the heat out of the body almost as fast as jumping in water.

I've lived here for 13 years. That's about as cold as I can take.

I'm used to the cold as I have lived here in NY State my whole life and 41 F is damn cold riding if you don't have heated gloves and a full face helmet.

riding again after two months off

ive been off the bike for two months, having cataract surgery on both eyes 3 weeks apart. i really missed out on riding in some great weather conditions. went out saturday and yesterday and it was great. nice not having those darn bifocals fluttering on my nose too. work keeps me off the bike also as i work 14 days on and 7 days off. if im lucky, i'll get to ride again this winter with days in jan and feb that are tolerable.

Every day, 365. I ride 24 miles r/t in Portland, Or.. Rain or Shine....we're about 5 months away from the Shiny season. Last week, while sitting in stand-still traffic, the rain was just gushing and rolling across the lanes on I-5. I'm sitting on the downhill incline of a curve and water was rolling over my boot... it was flowing about 1.5 inches deep. Since I find the best way to handle this much rain is to ride the lane hump between the tire grooves.

Exclamation Mark Two Nice Rides

Yes, I rode 135 miles today through the Central Coast wine country, and 150 miles yesterday down the coast to Santa Barbara. Just out distressing from my work week.

Rained here off and on all day. A rare occurrence. Snow level down to about 4000'. Good thing I live at 1200'.
