also check the vacuum diaphragm. Had the same issue on another bike and it ended up being a small tear in the rubber diaphragm.

Here is the progress update - changed plugs. No improvement.
Pulled carb, disassembled and soaked in carb cleaner solution for 48 hours. Rinsed off and flushed in boiling water for just a moment. Cleaned every crevice and blew out every port and hole.
Reassembled. Bike rode like a champ. Was a great feeling. I can now remove and totally disassemble a carb in about 20 minutes. I feel like Forrest Gump cleaning his rifle in boot camp.

Now, if I can figure out why the horn died a slow, squeaky death I can get this thing inspected.

Congrats, you've accomplished something that many experienced wrenches have problems with.

If you want to come to south FL I have a EN500 with carb issues, it has a pair of CVK32s.

Good to hear you found the carb issue.

If the horn is a stock unit I would just replace it with a better horn such as a Stebel.
