tThere is a chamber between the water pump and the engine bottom end and that hose is attached to it. The chamber isolates the engine bottom end (where the water pump shaft is driven) from the water pump impeller enclosure (where the water is driven). If oil comes out of the hose it means that the engine oil seal (on the water pump shaft) is failing and if water/antifreeze comes out it means the water pump seal (on th water pump shaft) is failing. Anfreeze seal is on pump side and can be replaced in your garage for $50 or at dealer for $250. Oil seal is a dealer deal at $2,500 a pop!!!

Thanks
I'm having the same issue. Glad I checked here before I did anything! Going to get that seal.
