Protective Gear Guide

What are the most important protective gear? I know most of us know that helmet, a fully armor jacket(elbow, shoulder and back protector), Pant with knee slider's and armors, but if there is something missing or some tip for safe riding we must share, so other can take benefit from our experience.

A good pair of gloves, most times when you come off a bike your hands are the first thing to hit the road, and thin gloves barely last a second grinding on the pavement.
When I came off my bike a few years ago I had some decent gloves and still ended up with some really bad road rash after I stopped sliding.

Gloves, a helmet (usually), jeans and boots. That's my safety gear. Oh, and a jacket when it's cold.

Full face helmet, either a leather jacket or mesh armor jacket, gloves (not the fingerless useless things) and boots.
But most important I try to maintain a full understanding of the dangers and possible dangers around me. Mental alertness is key. No music or other distractions for me. yomv

Jemmie if this turns into a plug for jackets4bikes.com like your other post "Hot weather gear" you might find it backfiring on you. Don''t be sleazy - if you're affiliated with that site be honest about it and consider supporting this site by becoming a vendor sponsor.

I just screwed up with you guys. Posting some threads in riding gear doesn't mean that i am looking to do some business here. I am not big fan of motorcycle customization so instead of sharing false information i kept myself away from such threads. What do you really meant about "backfiring" do elaborate this.
I am editing the thread related to "Hot weather gear" so do suggest me names of brands i can use on this forum.
