Blown ECU fuse

After the 40 mile ride yesterday the engine quit completely! Luckily I was only 5 blocks from home and it coasted all the way into the garage. The ECU 10 amp fuse was blown. Replaced it and the engine fired right up! Anyone have this happen on these bikes? Looks like the 09 and 10 Vulcans may have had ECU issues and some of the ZX6s? Safety issue in my mind! Don't want it to die in the fast lane of a 4 laner and have to try to get over to replace a stupid 10 amp fuse. It is going to dealer tomorrow for the recall anyhow, but the ECU fuse has me really concerned.......UPDATE ON BLOWN FUSE!!!.... One of the wires from the Power Commander was chaffed and rubbing on the tank! Crap! I installed it with the tank off and am usually very careful regarding wire routing. OK I Suck! How could I have been so Careless! They shielded the wires on the Recall while at it, just to be safe. (Thanks) And started it up and said it runs Lean, still! Thanks California! Auto Tune in the future? Anyway Thank You All for the input and ideas. I feel so Cheap!

Thats a new one on me. I have blown the horn fuse and like a dumbass the 30 amp main fuse like 5 times in a row. I had a few beers and did not realize I installed the battery backwards and everytime I connected the ground cable POP... I never drink anymore when working on a bike or car till I am done..lol

I've had it happen. I was out in a major rain storm, hit a big ass puddle, er...small lake, and the engine quit. I had to have it towed to the Dealer. Turns out I had a wire for my PCV that had rubbed and the water shorted it and blew the fuse. Now here's where it gets interesting. When I went to pick it up the next day, the service manager told me they weren't going to charge me for the work. They had recently been under the tank on a different issue, and he felt like they should have spotted the wire. They didn't even do the install, I did. Now that's what I call service and integrity.

TX1700 believe it or not, Woods. Dustin is the service manager, and he is a good guy, that really cares about his shop and his customers.

Thanks Gypsy Dragon, Woods has always been good for me when I had the Roadstar. I have been using CTPS for the Voyager as that's where I bought it! I have always done most all my own work on the Roadstar. I will do my own work on the Voyager unless it is covered by Kawasaki! Good thing about the forums are if you don't know how to do something someone will talk you through it.

ECU Fuse

I'm glad I checked the forum,. It happened to me today on my 3 month old 1700 Vaquero. I was doing about 30 MPH, took a right turn and everything died. Gauges froze here they were.

Towed it to the dealer where they found the blown fuse. I said ""cool, now why did it die?". They took it for a test drive and within 1 mile they replaced the fuse twice. Any information you have with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
