Air intake choices

Getting ready to buy an air intake. Want to get rid of the stock look otherwise I would go with chuckster. Thinking between roaring toys or thunder manufacturing round kit. I ride in the rain a lot here in Chicago so I need something that won't get chocked up by water. I had a cone on the last bike that did that sometimes. Would love to hear some opinions. Thank you.

Go with the Thunder MFG! you can get a K&N rain sock if your worried about riding in the rain, they will also send you a PCV map if you have a power commander. I have one and Love it, fit and finish is perfect. Good Luck

The roaring toyz was on my bike when I got it. First thing I noticed was my knee resting against it. After about a week of riding, I got used to it and it's not bother to me at all now.

I have the Roarin' Toyz, and if I knew then what I know now, I would have gotten the Thunder Mfg.

I'd be happy to.

The Roarin' Toyz is cool looking, but the shape and positioning of it can be a bit uncomfortable on the right knee. Also, the design of the Thunder back plate is better. The radius of the curve of the transition from the flat part of the plate to intake runner is very important. Generally you want a larger radius. I prefer parts that are designed specifically for the application, where the RT is a Performance Machine part for an HD that has been modified. And lastly, after my trip to Thunder, and getting the tour, I have seen first hand the skill, tech knowledge, and math (yes math) that goes in to their designs. I was privy to witness them milling a prototype intake for an Indian, and the test runs on a customer's bike. Travis is a VERY skilled 3D designer and 6 axis CNC mill operator.

I will probably be switching to the Thunder kit (the one where you can do the custom cover) at some point.

Love my Baron BAK on my 9. Looks great, and is tight to the engine so does not disturb my knee. Wish Baron made one for my Nomad.
