Just curious since I have the 1500 FI but what is the benefit of this to a stock bike?

It lets the bike breathe. That stock air set up is a huge restriction. Try it you'll like it.

For what it's worth.... I had the original Thunder kit with the Dog Bowl on my '97 Classic 1500. I used the left side Dog Bowl to store items like an extra headlight bulb, spare plugs, electrical wire, small parts, etc. They stayed safe (wrapped of course) but gave me some extra storage of items that could be used in case of an emergency. I'll be picking up the dually for my bike soon and doing the same thing.
