"Gonezilla"

Its been a nasty winter up here in N. Alberta so it seems fitting to build a nasty atv.. It was a 450 honda but not any more! It now has polaris sled front suspension with hubs. A strecthed swingarm mounted to a lonestar rear hub.The engine is out of a 87 1000cc Ninja. Its been a slow project because of trying to match up different oddities and replaceing all the brgs. and bushings but it is finally shaping up to be a monster. That is why I call it "Gonezilla". More pics to come as it unfolds...Bdog

Bdog,
I know you've mentioned this and posted pics in a previous thread. I can't remember, are you building this for yourself or for someone else?

Looks like it's gonna be a fast machine when you get it all done! Looking forward to your progress updates as you post 'em!

I'm building it for my buddy. He's a new Dad and he has very little mechanical skill but is willing to learn. I thought this would be a good project for him to learn mechanical, electrical, welding and machining skills so he can pass them on down the road to his boy. He's also learning how to chase down parts, cross referencing #'s for things like bushings, bearings etc. He was a little bit timid when he would go to a parts dept. to try and get something, now he has the confidence of knowing what he's looking for. All costs for this project are his and of course I'll take a modest wage or barter from him too.

You're buddies with Brad???

John is a great guy !! For those that haven't had the pleasure of meeting him.

I think of him as "my buddy", I hope he feels the same.

This will be one big bad dirt digging machine. Nice work. What are you going to use for the body?

I think I would rather have one of these set up for dirt and trips into the bush, but there's a guy just south of us in Montana that built one for the pavement. It would be fun to try it out anyway.
