few comments on front tire and gas additive

I put on the commander 2 front tire 130/90-16, and noticed it was much easier to turn in parking lots and going in and out of curves. the shop that changed my tire wasnt happy about the smaller size but he still did it. The other thing is that i stopped in walmart to grab some seafoam to see if it would quiet up the tick on the left side of the motor, they were out of seafoam but had their walmart equivelant ,the tank had about a gallon left in it so i added about 5oz and to my surprise it took the tick away! How come when i tried the seafoam it didnt do anything for the tick sound but wallys did?

On the Wallyworld web site, I don't see a Walmart equivalent to Seafoam. Besides, what the local floor employee calls "equivalent" may be a very different mix of chemicals from Seafoam. Seafoam is mostly a cleaner and stabilizer. Other additive products have lubricants or other ingredients that perform different functions.

Could've been a freak accident. Probably something the boosted the octane....and they have all kinds of diff. carb cleaners....some with the good flammable industrail cleaner....hydratechnichloride or whatever that mess is.
If you get alot of water, and Seafoam isn't avail., Heet works, I have also used alcohol, too.

That is WalMart carburetor & injector cleaner. It's more like Berryman's B12 Chemtool than Seafoam. I always use Berryman's B12 once a year in all my engines. Great stuff.

I have about 4,000 miles on the Michelin Commander ll combo and could not be happier. Much better handling in all weather and I have been through everything now. It actually measures closer to 140mm on the front if that's an issue with folks. The VTwin shop that mounted them have had lots of positive feedback on them on and they now outsell the Avon tires.

Seafoam rocks. I also use Marvel Mystery oil about 6 times a year.

I thought Sea Foam was a petroleum based product. If so, how does it get rid of water in oil or gas?

Seafoam is a cleaner and lubricator. It kills moisture, since it does have some alcohol in it, it bonds to the water and allows it to be burned. Just like the ethanol treating products, (they all contain diff. Types of alcohol) it has other chemicals that also decarbonizes your engine and cleans/lubricates the injectors and/or carbs....
Go to the Seafoam website!
If your ever out on the road, and you get a crappy tank of fuel and your bike will just barely run, and no seafoam is avail., stop at a store and pick up a bottle of isoprople alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and pour it in your tank....
Won't win any races, but it'll be able to your fuel to burn, even if it has alot of water in it.
Remember Katrina? There was not a bottle of alcohol to be had anywhere....all the filling stations had water in their tanks, either from leaks or people filling the stations tanks allowing wster to get in.
Ethanol fuel will pull moisture out of the air, then it will start to seperate once it gets too much water for it to absorb....

Pretty good analysis. Phase separation is a bad thing. Sea Foam is a good thing. Never thought of rubbing alcohol, it's cheap and everywhere if you need it in a pinch.
