About 2hrs. for 2 blokes. But i have done it a few times Tank, seat, bags, and frame, exhaust, crashbars, footboards, radiator, carb, and the right hand side frame section, all have to be removed, before you even start on the engine The first time, it took me, and a mate about 3hrs. Getting it back in, can be a right bastard though. Lining the driveshaft up, is a 3 handed job. Enjoy

So should be no longer than 5 hours. The shop I spoke with stated $105/hour… wonder what time frame the shop manual says? So about $1k to R/R engine plus about $1500 for used engine with less miles. Assuming I can get one that needs little to nothing done to it, I can have my girl up and running for about $3k. Has anyone bought a used engine, recommend any one?

A place called Pinwall Cycles used to be a good source for Kawasaki engines. I think a few guys on the forum have dealt with them over the years.

Just curious, what happened to the current motor or did you buy it in this condition? Just wondering how many miles before the engine died?

See “She died” post under 1600 Nomad. Has 76k miles. I see 1600 Meanie engine for about $1700 on eBay. I know they only have one stator where the Nomad has two but it should fit, only 25k miles on it.

Fallen cycles, have shipped a few parts to me in England, and they have been good to deal with. http://www.fallencycles.com/

It's simple to switch the Meanie to two stators.

Just swap the Nomad parts onto the Meanie mill.

I know its not as easy as this looks. Can an old guy with arthritic hands, enough tools and a strong mind do this? Ive got a helper with the strong back and free week ends so what are the odds? I paid to have the Nomad engine removed and may be taking the engine out of my Meanie and placing it in the Nomad. Thoughts?

Engine swap

Referencing the above link by Mechaniac, is it the same putting a Meanie engine in the Nomad? Will the wiring work?
