Changing tire

I am going to be installing a new rear tire (hopefully) this weekend. I've never done this before on a Nomad. Are there any seals or gaskets that need to be replaced as a result of removing the rear wheel? My rear drive was serviced by my dealer not too long ago, so I'm not too worried about that.

Very easy and straight forward. No seals or gaskets. That is unless you want to get ito removing and greasing the swingarm and checking the driveshaft u-joint. It is a bit time consuming but not anything beyond the average persons ability with basic metric tools.

When I changed my rear tire I found the detailed instructions on Gadjet's Fixit page to be more helpful than the service manual. Read through it and you should have no problems.

Its a straightforward procedure, just get the bike up high enough on the jack so you can get the wheel out from underneath the bike. Are you changing the tire yourself or sending it in? Once you have the wheel off the bike the hardest part is done.

I'm going to remove the rear wheel, unmount the bald tire, mount the new one, balance it with Dynabeads and stick it back on the bike.

I'll be very interested to hear how this goes for you. I'll be doing the same thing very soon. My back tire is damn near bald and it's getting noticeable - especially on the curves.

My cobras showed up in the mail the other day. Now I am really itching to get the bike out of the shed.
CJ did you notice how BIG the cobras look when they are not mounted on the bike? I took one look and thought there is no way that is gonna fit under there.

Mine haven't arrived yet. Hopefully they will ship today and I'll be able to install this weekend.

I thought the hardest part was putting the tire back on the bike. Holding the wheel up while trying to line it up with the splines. The forst three times I did it it was a breeze but the last time I did it what a pain in the butt.

I only bought the rear, I still have a few miles left on the front. I ordered it from Sport Tour LTD, $186.90 ($176.95 + $9.95 shipping).
