Dark Side

How many of you that have gone to the Dark Side, ride two up frequently? How does the bike/ tire react to the extra weight of riding two up. I know of a few that have gone to the dark side, but primarily ride solo. They say they will never go back...

I don't very often, but when my wife does ride with me, she says it's a much smoother ride and more comfortable.

Ditto on what everyone else here says.

One minor negative or thing that I've experienced running darkside which can be a bit more pronounced with 2 up is when you go over uneven roads, meaning back roads that have been oiled and chipped, gravel etc, is that the rear end can wonder a bit.

Generally do the long rally rides 2-up. Wife doesn't really know a difference. Me, I can tell the difference. It's a better ride especially in the wind.

Grin Tire

I have had car tire on for about 8/9 thousand miles and ride 2 up only. 33/34 psi and can't tell the difference. On some milled roads it will pull you to follow the grinder marks.

Has any one put a car tire on a Vaquero. If so what are you running?

I agree with jimo....the bike sometimes tries to follow the road lines(?) and swells. 32psi solo or 2 up.

Don't all bikes do this? I don't think it's limited to just bikes with car tires.

I was pleased with the ride after going darkside, but riding 2-up is where we notice the biggest improvement. Much smoother and more secure on things like tar snakes. I settled on 34psi cold.

I'm with u, my bike would react with mc tire and does same with car tire. In fact i feel no difference from mc tire to car tire.

I don't remember it being prevalent with a MC tire, maybe because less contact area?? Just seems more pronounced with a CT. I probably should have mentioned @ slower speeds...

That's my experience anyway.

I don't really notice the rear-end wondering riding 2 up. It's when I ride one up and get in the the dips and ruts that the 18 wheelers can make in the road that will and have had me all over my lane. 28 psi
