Jump & Go jump starater

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post a non bike specific general tech issue but here goes.

For those who are interested in an excellent jump starter for your bike, the Jump & Go is being sold at Wal-Marts for about $60. About 5-6 riders in my local circle have purchased and used them, most on cars or trucks. They are designed for small engine use but one guy jumped his car three times with it. Another has used it on trucks at work. When using it one must follow the directions carefully or the circuit board in the red lead can be damaged. It comes in a nice carry pouch. I will be using it whenever riding out of the country or in remote areas of the US where a dead battery can be a real problem. It happened to me once and I had to wait for a tow truck. Batteries can do strange things such as working just fine one day and be dead the next.

That's a six inch steel rule in the pic to provide a size perspective.

Its hard to imagine that something that small holds enough power to boost a vehicle.

I got a similar item for Christmas - The Antigravity XP3 - great reviews on Amazon and will easily fit in my saddle bag next to my compact tire pump/repair kit and trauma kit . . .

http://www.amazon.com/Antigravity-Ba...1&keywords=XP3

It was a lot less before X-Mas

And they hold their charge for a long time. Mine has sat on the workbench since I purchased it. When I checked it yesterday it still had a full charge.

I mentioned a friend who started his car three times. It had been sitting for a year and the battery was dead. He jumped but it but it died twice so had to jump it again twice. He said it still indicated over half a charge on the Jump & Go even after that. Trick little items they are.

Do you use it until it's out of juice and then dispose of it, or can it be recharged?

The one I have can be recharged . . .and it can be used to recharge your cell phone or other USB devices - Even has a nice adapter with most common plugs (including Apple) pigtailed on to it . . .and it is also a flashlight - so - before I put it in my saddle bag, I can remove my portable cell phone charger and my flashlight - effectively adding the jump starter with nearly zero space impact . . .

It is rechargeable. It has a button on the side that has a string of lights that indicate the charge status. If low you plug it in and recharge it.

As with napom's post, it can also be used to recharge cell phones and tablets etc. I fact, now that I have this I won't be installing an auxiliary plug on my Nomad. No need.

Just read in the Jan/Feb issue of Canadian Biker magazine that DelTran/Battery Tender makes one as well with 400 CCA. Funny thing is, I can find no mention of it on DelTran's website (???)

Regardless of the brand, with that compact a size, it sounds like a good thing to have in one's saddlebag just in case of an emergency.

I got one for Christmas
This one
http://www.amazon.com/Jumbl-Portable...t+battery+pack

My son in law has one; he is a used car broker always has at least 60 used cars on his lot. He says it's great, on a full charge he jump started 11 cars in one day without recharging it.
I'm going to carry it on the bike whenever I ride.
Bob

And I should learn to spell, or perhaps get new glasses. I just looked at the thread title. "starater", really? Sheesh.

Would a moderator be so kind as to correct that if possible. I can't get to the title.
