Muffler core removal

I am going to pursue this option thanks to your instructions, but Gadget's site had two options based on the year/model and I wanted to confirm the procedure posted on Kawanow was appropriate for a 2007 1600 FI Nomad.

I also believe from what I've read so far that I won't need to get a new FI controller and mapping unless I also change the Intake.

So basically, I just wanted to confirm these two points before I take a hole saw to my baby. Thanks for the help!

Thanks Brad - will pick up a hole saw blade tonight, three days off to do first oil and screen change, Final drive lube, wash, wax, add neon and cut pipes - life is good

Read all the different versions and used the 1 3/4" metal hole saw. Was done with both baffles in about 15 minutes.

Used BBQ grill cleaner on the ends to cleanup. Washed off the stuff after it boiled the ends clean.

Hit the inside with flat black paint and was done.

Total time from start to end less than 1 hour without removing the pipes. That included cleanup and painting.

You were faster than me :) Took more time whittling the wood dowel than it did to drill and pull the pipe restrictors. Spent about 25 minutes per pipe, then used a rasp file to smooth it out, vacuumed the inside and painted the ends. But then again, I had my neighbor watching and we jacked around a bit.

I like the sound - took a long ride to get them set, but it's mellowed out well. Thanks!

Yeah I didn't make it real pretty at the end with a file or such, but it looks good.

I love the mellow sound it now makes.
