New from Southeast Mo

Traded in my '96 virago 1100 for a 05 1600 last Wed. Great upgrade. Looking forward to some great times on my Nomad, I know for sure that my wife likes it a lot more. Took it out for a 100 mile run today and I was very happy with the ride. I do have a question though. When I got back to town and I filled up I decided to take the long way back to the house and I noticed that when i opened it up in second gear that the gas tank really vibrated badly, is that normal? If not what should I look for?

Welcome from Ontario!! The fuel tank shouldn't vibrate at all, perhaps the bolt under the seat is loose or missing, or the rubber pads near the front of the tank. The tanks are not hard to remove, and you could check if its on correctly. Gadgets fixit sight has a lot of info on the Vulcans where you could find instructions on all kinds of stuff.

Semo, welcome to the forum. I am a Floridian now but used to live in SE Iowa and one of my favorite weekend trips was to ride down into the Mark Twain National Forest and just mess around. It will be a great place to put miles on the Nad!
Rings correct; after riding the Virago nothing the Nomad does should seem like a lot of vibration. It should seem smoother in every way and if not then you have something to find and correct. If you don't stumble onto a easy fix go down to the Nomad 1500/1600 garage section and post a thread with details on the bike and the problem and someone will know what to look for.
