How many miles do you run your synthetic oil?

I am about to go on a 2000+ mile road trip. I put fresh Mobil 1 in 3000 miles ago. I think it ought to easily go another 2000, but wanted to get input.

How many miles do you usually put on your synthetic oil before you change it?

in my nomad, and v-star 1300, 3000 miles oil and filter 5w-40 rottella, and st 7317 walmart filter. in my goldwing mobil 1 e.p. and st 7317 filter 4000 mi.. in my majeasty 400 scooter mobile1 5w- 30 2000 mi.. in my zx-14 10w-30 mobile1, k&n filter 1000 mi..

Thats about my change interval Doug.... My guess is changing syn every 5k could be excessive and surely not negligent and I don't lose sleep over it.

So you change your oil once a year, then? ::) Sorry, my bad - once every two years.

I usually change mine every 3-4K or when my wife needs me to do something in the house. ;)

You can remove the filters on these bikes without draining the oil. I promise!

I swap filters at 2500 miles and run my synthetic oil for 5000 miles.

This was recommended by Rich Lockyer who sent his oil to the laboratory to get tested on each oil change on his 1600 classic.
