Another One Gone

I just watched the new owner ride off on the Nomad I have had for the last 12 years.

Still a lot of life left in the old girl.

I flip bikes on the side, I've sold several dozen at this point. It's hard enough letting go of one you've had for two weeks and put a lot of sweat equity into. Add a decade of memories to it and, well...at least those are yours to keep...

Funny how we get attached to these machines isn't it? Hopefully, she went to a good home. People rib me for naming my bikes, I suppose that only adds to the connection.

So MAS, what does that leave in the garage? As you sig suggests, the two project bikes and the RKP?

Ride safe,
Smokier

Yes, the RK and an 04 Meanie, and an A model up in my garage in Charlotte.

Both projects are looking for homes.

I messed up and sold my 1500 a month ago to some one here in town and we now ride together. Talking about a shot to the heart.

I think of selling our 05 Nomad. We bought it brand new and it’s still a great ride. I just can’t bring myself to selling.

I do miss my 1500 Classic......it just got too damn heavy. I suppose I should say I just got too damn weak to hold her up. A 500 lb bike is much easier to deal with.

Traded in My 1500 Classic to what I thought was going to be a lighter bike. Sold on the Versys 650 till I rode it. Had an issue with finding the brakes, No other issue besides No floor boards so== Now A Vaquero. Not the direction I was convinced on going. Big Fail on owning a lighter bike. Ended up adding 300 lbs. No regrets just a fact.

Still miss my 1500 but the documentation I kept for maintenance will make the new owner very well informed. My only comfort in the sale.

I got a 15' Versys LT and rode it for three years with a good long trip each year. I thought it was good for touring. Light and fast with good storage. Like any bike I needed to make it "fit" me but that didn't cost too much. This last ride in July was almost too much so I'm now done with long rides.....sold the Versys and got an around town fun bike. An 03' 883 Sportster Hugger. A paint shaker that reminds me a lot of the Norton 850 I had many moons ago. Much more reliable however.

Those are scary words. Boy I dread the day I get to that point. I love a good 10 to 12 hour day of 2 lane roads in the RDL saddle on the Voyager. 5 days of it this past September. Neuropathy in both legs, both knees replaced, herniated abdomen wall repair, carpels tunnel release both hands, right wrist rebuilt, and right shoulder rotator cuff repaired buttttt I'm good for long rides,,,,, for now. Spring can't get here fast enough.

I was out for 8 days doing 350+ miles each day, nice two lane roads through WY, MT, ID, and BC. On the way back the last two days it was really hard to convince myself to climb back astride the bike. Arthritis in my back, neck and hands as well as diabetic neuropathy in my legs and feet. I'm hoping the weather later this week will allow a ride....supposed to get in the high 50's and the snow is pretty much melted off. Just have to watch out for the sand and gravel on the road.

The Vibrations sooth my foot Neuropathy somewhat, but the damn Sand sucks. Bridges have been tricky some mornings with Ice. Same thing all over in the spring, with the sand. Yet We Ride !!!

Yea, when it snows and ices here, I give it about 2 days before I ride....some places in the shade around the rain forrest, you'll hit some black ice....dangerous as hell by these mountains....and thats not counting the sand and idiot drivers....

I know you folks in the upper states and Canada have a limited riding season. I complain about our 2-3 months of limited riding. January thru first March is limited for most locals mainly due to cold and rain but not snow. Can't imagine any less seat time. We have a toy run to a children's home Saturday morning. Should be 47 degree at KSU with a high of 57 degree. Only about 150 miles round trip. Alittle break from the cold.
