Don't need all those straps

I said. It'll be fine, just across the parking lot, I said. Oopsie!

This is from the Iron Horse trailer website, which also has a neat demo of proper tongue loading when pulling a trailer: https://ironhorsetrailers.com/safe-motorcycle-hauling/

I learned the hard way long ago, you can't apply too many straps. And no straps is begging for disaster. I hauled grandpa's nice Craftsman table saw (with the nice cast iron table extensions) back to his garage decades ago, after I finished using it to make kitchen cabinets. Loaded it standing up in the bed of his pickup, to drive it three miles across town. Dumbass me didn't tie it down, no straps. Figured, I'll go slow and steady, no problem right?

Last left turn, two blocks from his house, I hit a small pothole, heard a "clunk", and watched as the saw tumbled out the bedside, and SMASH goes the extensions on the ground. Gathered up the saw, parts, pieces and sheepishly delivered it to grandpaw. He was cool about it, said "I'll get my buddy Butch to weld it up for me."

Ever since then I over strap and tie down anything I am moving.
