New to the forum with lots of questions
Hello All. My old bike got totaled last week and I just bought a 2001 1500 Nomad FI. I live in Texas and love to ride. Now I want to work on the bike but I have several questions and was hoping my fellow riders could help me out.
1. Looks like I have Cobra true duals but an older set that has a tapered muffler and a baffle that looks like it cannot be removed. Question: Can I replace just the muffler with another brand/kind that does not have baffles so I can add my own baffles like Monster baffles from Thunder exhaust? 2. The only thing the previous owner did was change the mufflers. Since this is my first FI bike I wanted to know about the intake and fuel air mixture. Question: How do I change the intake to maximize performance and what system seems to work best with my bike. Thanks in advance for the answers as I look forward to hearing from you all. Hey Rag, good to see that you are okay. After about 24 hours you will be able to post your question in the regular forums. Not everyone reads this one. In the meantime, welcome to the forums from Tennessee!

Welcome to the SouthCentral Group.
Some styles of the Cobra pipes had removable baffles. Several types of intakes are available, Thunder, Barons and Chucksters are examples. Since you already have aftermarket exhaust, some type of fuel controller will be needed if you change the intake. Dobeck TFI and Cobra seem to be the most popular. Do a little searching and you'll find plenty of info.

Welcome RAG
I would ride the bike as is for just a little while. Read the old posts on this site and also read Gadget's link. I would then make a list of the mods you want to do and prioritize them unless you plan on doing all of them at once. I would do the safety and comfort related items first, then add the performance and bling. These are great all around bikes. Enjoy!

TFI fuel controller and a Chucksters dual intake, transformed my Nomad with V&H exhaust. It runs better, faster, and cooler.
