Debaffling and need your help
Hope you guys can help me with this. I cut through the weld on the right exhaust, it is completely through the weld and the baffle will move about but it doesn't want to come out. When I get the needle nose on it and pull it feels like it is attached at the front end. Does the '08 attach at the front end? I really need you guys help on this. Once again thanks in advance. Hey Trip if you happen to read this I didn't mean to cause a problem for the guy that told you to remove him from membership. It is just that anyone that offered me advice did it through the thread I had posted and this guy sent me an email. Then when I went through the membership I couldn't find a name of mcclellan on the roster. Didn't mean to make him mad but I thought he should have answered in the thread.

Not sure if the 2008 is any different from the 2006, but one of my baffles also felt like it was attached with something extra. It wasn't. Just took a little more yanking and twisting before it popped loose.

the ends slides into another tube and the crap on the exhaust makes it stick inside it!

Get a big set of channel locks and just keep twisting the baffle clockwise and counter clockwise all the while pulling on it. You might even start the bike and have the vibration of the exhaust help it seperate.
Trust me if you cut all the way through the weld and that baffle now moves a little it will come out. It just takes some longer to slide out due to the carbon buildup. Patience.

BD is right. (Did I say that out loud? ) It's carbon build-up on the end of the tube. There's nothing mechanical securing it on the inside end. It's a tube that slips into a fitting or plate on the inside end.

I have used the pliers and pulled and twisted to no avail. The back part wiggles like crazy but I make no headway getting it to start coming out. I am at my wits end.

Get a pair of vise grips and grab the end as tight as the vice grips will allow. Twist it back an forth while pulling. It will come out. Crank the engine and allow the pipes to get hot. Grab with a vice grip and yank it out.

Don't stress Bamaman. It will come out. Wiggling like you said is a good sign its not frozen in there. Carbon is just making it difficult. It could take 100 attempts but it will break free. Once you see the other end you'll ask yourself how the heck did it stick in there!! It does.

Thanks for your help, I will keep working at it. I did manage to get a metal shaving in my ring finger on my left hand. Geez that little sucker hurts when I touch it but don't see a darn thing.

Bugman, you said you broke a little weld at the back. Are you talking about the back of the exhaust where I am doing the pulling or the front end of the baffle? I have cut completely through the weld as far as I can determine. I can see something silver through the cut that I made. It is may a half inch or more ahead of the cut I made through the weld.
