Mac, You can't leave us!!!

I for one DO NOT want to see the wisdom and wit of our beloved Mac go away.
Who's with me?!
I'm not a big poster but I haunt this site daily and love his insight.

Casted my "Must Stay" vote for mac.

I don't always agree with all he says about LEO's but I did ride a few times with the "Choir Boys" in Los Angeles and lost a lot of respect for how they acted when not in uniform. They were doing many things that we are arrested for.

That said, I still believe their are many, many more good cops than bad. The good ones just need to point the finger at the bad ones.

Why would he leave? AFAIC, he did nothing wrong or forbidden by the forum rules.

I voted for Mac to stay also. However, based on his post he was asked to lay off the LEOs (on a motorcycle forum). Does not seem like that big of a thing to walk away for. IMO the Off Topic section is where all of those comments belonged in the first place. Nonetheless, it's his choice and if he walks he will be missed but life will go on.

Mac's honest and open. Says what's on his mind, without reservation. He does this without making others defensive or becoming defensive himself.
This, and every forum, needs people like Mac.
He's got a vast amount of knowledge and is willing to share it with anyone.

Wow...just read some of these threads. At our age we're supposed to have a clue, not turn into a bunch keyboard haters. It's starting to sound a little like a FREE MUMIS ABU JAMAL Hollywood rally in here. Or maybe occupy wall street. I did 20+ years as a Capt in places most of you would never drive through. I had great men and women that are proud Americans and love our constitution as am I. I understand that some of you have bad experiences w law enforcement and whole heartedly agree that we should be held to a higher standard. People are the same in every job and some people don't handle authority over others very well. They should be held accountable. Macmac obviously had run ins w some dishonorable Law enforcement. But let me tell you my paycheck wasn't welfare. While most of you were warm in bed me and my cops were handling nightmares in the south Bronx. I missed almost every Christmas and kid's birthday. It was worth it. It was a job that had to be done and we did it. We all have our issues but maybe we should handle them instead of going on a Vulcan website and insulting a bunch of decent people you don't know. I'm not voting on this silly poll as I don't believe in censorship but I do believe in decency

I think that is the problem that many people have. They are not held accountable. Their word is golden in court. They get fired or disciplined and they fight it and are back, with back pay and interest. There are two recent high profile events here in NE Ohio where there were officers that simply should have lost their jobs. What they got instead was some long taxpayer paid vacations. The Union and their fellow officers went to town for them.

So for me, it isn't the individual police officers that I hate, I respect the hell out of them until they prove otherwise. But seeing how they defend their fellow officers no matter what those officers have done is making it harder and harder to respect them. And as it continues to happen I expect my disdain will eventually extend to individual officers. It is a natural progression.

And I have 3 very close family members that are LEO's. And my best riding buddy is an LEO.
