Important notice about choosing your regional name

Hi All,

As you know following the division of the Canadian region into East and West We are choosing a new name.
After seeing the suggestions on both the Western board and here on our Eastern board, Rickyboy (Regional leader on the Western Board) and I have decided that We must pose the following question to our respective members.

Do We, the Eastern region want to carry the same name as our Western counterparts? ...."along with a descriptive word that distinguishes us" from them, OR Do We wish to have a totally different name all together from our Western brothers??

It is important that your make this choice first, as it will effect the way we will conduct the vote on naming our board.

I encourage all of you to reply and make your wishes known regarding this question. Once it is clear the direction we wish to go, We will then move on to voting on our new name in a new thread / poll.

Thanks,
Norm CNC

OK, I'll get the ball rolling. I'm in favor of the same name with a descriptive word distinguishing east and west.

It's not the name that makes the rider but the riders that makes their names! ???

There's to much energy spent on this ::) I'll go sit on the bike now!

There is a reason We decided to add this extra step before voting and maybe it could be explained in a clearer manner.

There was a strong indication from the name suggestions we received both east and west that many wished to see the same name but with some little twist to differentiate between the two regions. We want to determine if everyone on both boards is in favor of this. If this is the case, and Rickyboy and I think it is, then the only way to achieve this is to list all the suggestions from both boards and vote on them as one group. If not everyone is in favor of this then we vote as two boards and more than likely end up with two completely separate names.
It's your choice, but We need you to make it.
Thanks.

Just a thought when chosing the name be aware there is a group of bikers known as the Nomads and I won't call them a club. Some of their members are in New York state , not sure if any are in Ontario. I wouldn't want to infring on their name. I looked under Bike Gangs in the USA, I had heard of them a couple of years ago, any body else know of them?

I was checking in here to see what, if anything, is being said about the name choices among you easterners,.......when I saw your question.
It's my understanding that there is a 1% grp. that's a spin-off of the Hells Angels, that call themselves "Nomads" or "The Nomads" ....

I remember seeing Nomads MC bikers around Montreal, but that was years ago. A search on the net brings up quite a few hits of clubs calling themselves Nomads, not all of them related to Biker gangs. It does seem that there are Hells angles Nomads scattered around North America and beyond and as close as Ontario. Here is the latest I could find on Gangs in Canada. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/...ker-gangs.html

We were the Northern Nomads, and most of the other regions on Kawanow use Nomad in their name, so I'm wondering
is the concern here that We would be associated with them, or that they may not like the use of the Nomad name?

I think if we keep KAWANOW with Vulcan in large letters and nomad in smaller case, we would be overlooked by THE NOMAD"S. I haven't run into any of the Angels lately that I could ask, how about any of you?

Well they do have a website, with a contact us link :-/
Seriously I'm sure we're fine, it's not like we are going to put 18 inch patches on the back of our vests.
