I was watching the Winter Olympics opening ceremonies from Vancouver and the Canadians have really set the bar high. Those special effects were amazing! I am looking forward to a couple weeks of top notch performances from the world's athletes.

Our Canadian members can be proud of the way in which their nation has presented itself.

I missed it tonight because I was at work, but heard they were good. I normally don't watch a lot of the events but my favorites are the bobsleds, Id love to have the chance to try one out.
I just hope the snow holds out for the skiing events. They are calling for milder temps and rain in that area.

I heard the other day that Mother Nature has not been kind to the Vancouver area this winter.

The biggest thing that happened in Salt Lake City in decades was the 2002 winter games. We moved from there in 1999, so we had to watch them on tv with the rest of the world.

It was so nice to see the great Bobby Orr once again. I played hockey during his heyday and he and Phil Esposito were heroes to me.

The opening ceremonies were great. Our Canadian brethern have to be proud. I was very saddened to hear of the Luge fatality. Very sad.

I watched for about an hour and got bored with the whole thing. Hey, I'm just saying, I didn't think the china opening was that interesting either. To each there own, just stating my opinion.
The luge track seems pretty demanding. Sorry to see the luger who died doing what he loved. Hope the rest of them can control the sleds. There have been quite a few accidents on the track as I understand.
I like watching the events it's just the cerimonies that bore me. The actual competition is what it is all about.

As the athletes entered, I eventually put it on mute. When they started doing the performing, I thought it was amazing, but long. That was one long show. I thought it was a bummer that at the most critical part, the climax of the whole show, the cauldron malfunctioned and left some high profile athletes standing there with a torch in their hands trying not to look uncomfortable. Then one of them was left standing there with her torch, and nothing to light while the other 3 lite theirs.

They did pay tribute to the Luge guy in a big way. I saw a video of his crash yesterday, but it's down today. He seemed to hit a vertical column/beam just off the track and went from perhaps 60mph to a dead stop zero inches. It seems it would be hard for others to race through that section knowing what crashing there might look like. I wondered if the supports would be protected with bales of straw or something now?

I love the winter Olympics. I like it better than the summer games. I'll enjoy this.

I agree with you Dan. Lots more going on. I like the ski jumping and snow boarding.

He was doing over 90 mph when he was ejected according to the experts. They built an elevated wall where he struck the beam and moved the starting point further down to keep them below 90 mph. Hopefully this will keep the less experience guys from crashing into something that won't give.

I love watching any Olympics, Summer or Winter, anytime I get a chance to. I just love watching sports on tv, especially non-professional athletes. That was a great show last night and enjoyed every minute of it. I do watch a lot of tv, but sports probably makes up about 80% of my tv-watching.

Been traveling over the last several days... haven't had the chance to see much. I am sure they "did it up right".

Winter Olympics are my favorite also.
