DON'T RUN SYNTHETIC OIL

Well I guess I might as well tell everyone what I use.
I put 5W-40 Rotella T full sythetic diesel oil in every engine I own.
The Jeep, Car, Truck, Motorcycle, Power Washer, Generator, Snow Thrower and Lawn Tractor.
Hey, what more can I say.

Dino is fine in my bike, I think synthetic is just overkill IMO.

I stay away from anything walmart has...and walmart period.

DON'T RUN SYNTHETIC OIL

Here's my take on oil...Mobile 1, full synthetic in all my vehicles. Change it either once a year or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. In the bikes I prefer M1 15w50, just seems to make them run quieter.

BTW - the truck has 110K, the Nomad is at 36K and the V2K is just a baby.

DON'T RUN SYNTHETIC OIL

Bel Ray 10-40 with a K&N oil filter every 3,000 miles. Good oil is cheap compaired to engines.

DON'T RUN SYNTHETIC OIL

I put 272,000 miles on my Honda Accord. Used nothing but dino oil. Changed every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. It wasn't burning any oil when I got rid of it.

My Chrysler Sebring has 148,000 miles on it and my wife's Trailblazer has 128,000 miles. Dino oil for both, changed at same 5-7 k miles. Both not using any oil between changes.

However, my Nomad has Mobile 1 V-Twin 20-50 SAE Full Synthetic. May not be any better than the dino but as long as I can afford it that's what I'm using.

DON'T RUN SYNTHETIC OIL

I like Mobile 1 Because it makes the bike run smother (quieter) and in my other two vehicles it gets better gas millage which leads me to believe the engines lubed better. Haven't checked the mileage conventional vs. Mobile 1 on the Nomad, I just assume that's the case to make me feel lilke the higher cost of the oil is returned with better millage. The cheap ST7317 conforms to engine requirement of 14 psi bypass valve, and a anti drain back valve, and it's a well made filter. So no problem there.

DON'T RUN SYNTHETIC OIL

yeah, I think Bob is right on. Basically these are huge lawnmower engines, not car engines and if syn is the way to go, spend the bucks. A very old man told me that. ;)

DON'T RUN SYNTHETIC OIL

Ran synth for 18,000 miles in a 1600 Classic and have now run synth for 30,000 miles in the Nomad. The only thing slipping is she and I out on a weekend jaunt :)

DON'T RUN SYNTHETIC OIL

When I had my 600mi service done I asked the shop manager what kind of oil they had put in and he told me Kaw 10w40. Then he told me it is made by mobile 1. Is this a true statement? I plan on changing my own oil from now on due to the cost. I am going to use Mobile 1 syn 10w40. Another question is since the owner's manual says 10w40, are you guys just having better results with these other weights? ??? The 5w40 would probably be a good idea since it is thinner when cold. I wonder if the 15w50 is to thick when cold. Bigjohn, does your engine crank over slower this time of year? Thanks in advance.
