Paint and ABS Plastic Repair Question

At least you guys with the Blue/Silver can have a trunk.

My color is so fast I can't keep a trunk attached...here is the pic (see my sig pic...no trunk!) to prove it. I tried 3 times with the strongest hardware....just sucked off the bike like a giant vacuum. Remember the movie the Mask w/Jim Carrey...that is how fast it goes...in first gear!

Wish I had one of the slower colors...it would be easier to pack.

Paint and ABS Plastic Repair Question

JRD, are you sure your trunk is fiberglass? the '89 Venture trunk I used to have was the ABS plastic (black). And like OP said, fiberglass won't bond to the ABS.

Paint and ABS Plastic Repair Question

Well, it was not that hard to fix. I went to the ACE Hardware and picked up a little can of ABS Cement and we are back in business. Stuff goes on easy, cures quick, and seems to be pretty strong.

My trunk had a crack all along the backside of the bottom portion of the trunk. It is holding nicely now. I have been pushing on it to check it out, and it worked great!

Thanks again for the help. Sorry about the confusion, I don't know why I was thinking fiberglass ::) ::) ::)

Now all I have to do is prep it for paint, find the paint, and let er fly ;)

Thanks again for all the help!
John

Make sure to let us know if you find matching paint cheaper than colorrite. And make sure you tell us where you found it.
