Handlebar size and distance between clamps

Hi All. I am pretty sure the handlebar size is 1" on the 05 Nomad, can anyone confirm ? Also I need the distance between the handlebar clamps as I have to make a bracket to mount a GPS. I need the distance between the top clamps, not the bolt centre to centre distance. My bike is in storage. Thanks.

You are correct, the bar diameter is 1". The distance between the clamps (widest point to widest point, they are elliptical) is just a hair under 2". Maybe 1-15/16". Maybe somebody with stock clamps - I have 3" risers under mine, can check for you. Mine might be off slightly.

redjay: I have Phatt ll risers so not stock, but the distance between my caps is 2- 1/16

Hi, Thanks for the input guys. If I go with an inch and three quarters I should be okay by the sound of it. I bought 2 one inch U bolts and have to make a plate to go between the clamps to mount the base of the RAM mount I bought. They did not have the RAM handlebar clamp in stock.

Did you try GPS city for the Mounts??? http://www.gpscity.com/rammounts good prices and I think they ship to Canada......Sound like your going to do alot of work to make the base mount... BUT if you do make it a PIC is a MUST HAVE,, :) Rich

Hi Rich. Not much work at all. A piece of 1/4 thick stainless steel 1 3/4 by 2 1/4, add four holes for the U bolts and its done. I got everything else made by RAM, (from a local Circuit City (The Source). Ordering anything from the U.S is a hassle with the shipping costs, exchange rate, money order, brokerage fees, duty, etc etc. Ontario here.

Just measured mine. I have the stock risers and clamps. At the nearest point between the clamps I measured 1 & 7/8"
