U- joint

, I've got a vibration in my bike lately that increases with speed by 95 mph it's a pretty good shake. I've never put one in it with 83k on the clock so along with the usual suspects( tires and bearings) I'm going to go ahead and change that u joint out. It's seen a pretty rough life, I'm one of those guys, I'm rough on my stuff but I'm paying the bill so...... my question is have any of you all bought the 15.95 joint off of eBay instead of the $108 one from Ron Ayers and what kind of luck did you have?

You can use the u-joint from a Kawasaki Prairie 400 ATV. The oem part number is
49050-1002.

Ive bought a couple from Rocky Mountain, (I think thats the name for about $30.00 CDN and they have worked out well.
Change it before it brakes and destroys the driveshaft like my last one did.

Yes, I have a 1600 MeanStreak swingarm, driveshaft, and final drive that I've been thinking about putting in mine, the 1600 parts have less than 7000 miles on them.

I've gone through them and just need to get the initiative going to swap them out.

Makes em slick
Today was the second Monday this week. I got started on the Kaw at the crack of 9. Tore it all down and by the time I got those inside clips off those little ujoint cups was already plum fuzzed up. Good news I did find my problem, the ujoin,t was needing replacing one cup and bearings were black with the grease burned up in place and you could see the pattern of the little needle bearings on the cross. The whole thing was not in good shape and the grease was drying out. Got it out and all cleaned up . Opened up my package and the UJoint was 2mm too small on the cup size and a couple or three mm too narrow, the search was on for one in eastern Ky, I went to four dealerships of every brand that I knew that sold ATVs of any type trying to match one up. Struck out I did however go to a truck and tractor bearing and driveline sales place that didn't have it either but the counter guy miked it and got online and found the one I needed on Amazon for 25 bucks with Monday being when it would arrive to me, quickest time so far except the one from Wisconsin that is wrong, don't even know if they accept returns . At this point I'm past caring. The game is under rain delay till Monday. Give me time to clean and grease the needle bearings, and check out the front end while I'm waiting. Hurry up and wait I guess. Later, I'll be ready to take a decent ride when this is over.

If it doesn't work out Monday, call or text me.

I think I have a slightly used one already in a 1500 drive shaft I can overnight to you.

Or I can bring it to Maggie and we can put it in Thursday.

No had I got that part , which is the one I ordered ,it would have fit. They sent me one with the number on the package of 49050-1007. Too small , I wish I had gotten the one I ordered. I'd be riding today.

Thanks, Amazon is pretty dependable, I expect to get it Monday and have it back under me rolling by at least Tuesday afternoon. I may have to hit you up,if it is a no show but I doubt it. Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know. I'm needing a few days in the big hills down that way. I may decide to slab it to Asheville and camp on the Blue Ridge Wednesday night if things work out in a timely manner, or just hammer down to Maggie on Thursday. To get in a night of camping up in the miuntains, I'd do that again, did that last year.

Kawaski UK price.http://www.kawasakioriginalparts.com...ber=49050-1002

Not as cheap, but by the time the import duty, shipping, and taxes are added on.Its not worth UK buyers farting about. And if they send the wrong part, the bike will be off the road for weeks,if not months.

The 49050-1002 Kawa ATV part number cross references to a DIFFERENT Tucker Rocky part number than what the Gadget page specs out. I think it is just a matter of them changing their part number convention in recent years. The current Tucker part number is 417801.

Their online catalog lists it for 20 bucks and change. However, I didn't see any facility on their site to order online. I found a local dealer (easily done via Tucker's find-a-dealer link) and got it ordered up for 23 bucks and change. Here is a link to their online catalog: http://online.fliphtml5.com/lxnd/mxjn/#p=735

To Tucker's Home page: https://tucker.com

This thread is the most recent thread with a title of Ujoint so I figured if a thread needed resurrected, it is this one.
