Rough seas
Looks like we will dodge a bullet over here with Eduardo. Only some squalls with periodic heavy rain. I pray that all of you in the Houston and Galveston area fare well and this doesn't develop into anything more than it is. Good luck and get out of town early if you have any doubts. Take care.

Looks like 'ol Eduardo is taking the same track that Rita took coming ashore at Sabine Pass. All we're expecting is some rain and periodic wind gusts. Much better forecast than when I went to bed last night. Hope the folks that do tangle with the storm fare all right.

Man... the way people were acting yesterday, you would have thought a catagory 22 huricane was on it's way!!! There were lines of people at the gas stations to fill up with gas. The stores were SOLD OUT of water, batteries, beer!! LOL! I don't know, but to me it makes perfect sense to be prepared, but people do tend to go a little over board IMHO. Be careful out there LW... you'll see more goofiness than most of us will!

We had 20 - 30 mph winds with 1.75" of rain. I'm happy to see that it has picked up forward speed and isn't just meandering anymore. Those slow moving TS's can dump huge amounts of rain and also spawn tornadoes on the NE and East quadrants. Looks like he's moving ashore now and dumping tons of rain on Galveston. Take care all....

On the westside - it's Year2K all over again
I'll second what Matt said - the media needs to CALM these folks down, not get them worked up :(" title="" border="0"/> It's a TS/Cat1 that's all!!!! |

We were just released from standby status. Over the 6 hours, just about 2 inches of rain and only saw gusts as high as 28. Time for a nap since I'm still scheduled to work at the plant tonight.

Looks like ole " Eddy" is petering out. Thank God it wasn't bad. Passed a bunch of Entergy and ABC Tree Service trucks heading toward Texas on I-10 this morning. As far as the press goes, Katrina and Rita made everybody waaaaay too edgy. I believe in being prepared, but ya have to use some good sense too, and don't over react !! Sheesh !!

Last time I was in Galveston, it could have used a good bath.
