Thumbs Up Got my riding partner back!

So, it all started about 9 years ago. I was just out of college and working my first job. I had moved back in with my Dad and Step-mom. I was riding a 1980 Honda C500. Well, my dad and I had been talking about bikes, he wanted one, I had one. It led me to purchase my 2003 Suzuki Bandit 1200S. I LOVED that bike!! My dad didn't like riding the Honda because he couldn't keep up. We sold the Honda to one of his co-workers and he buys a 2002 Honda Valkyrie. We really liked that bike too.

In 2005, I totalled my Bandit and the Valkyrie got traded for a '05 1600 Nomad (Blue/Silver). I quit riding for a couple of years. My dad would ride the Nomad, but didn't have his riding partner. After a couple of years his riding would start to taper off a little due to a few health concerns. I started borrowing his Nomad to get back into riding again. Taking day trips from early morning until after sundown. I loved being on a bike again. Eventually it got to the point where dad wasn't riding as much and I was riding more. This led to the Nomad staying at my house, and dad borrowing his bike from me to ride for the day. Not a bad deal for me.

Last year, for my birthday, dad signed his Nomad over to me for good. It was officially his for the first 2 years that I've been riding it. Now, it's mine. His "reasoning" was that I've put enough money into it in add-ons and maintenance that I've earned the bike. Happy Birthday!! I was elated, but also felt bad for him not having a bike to ride. Now to present day... dad purchased a '02 Honda VTX 1800 yesterday! And, it's in my favorite color, orange, so I'm a little jealous of that. He came riding up to my house with a HUGE smile on his face! He is really excited about being able to ride again. It is a really nice bike with a bunch of chrome add-ons, exhaust, and fun gadgets for him. He's ready to go riding now and I've got my favorite riding partner back! I can't wait to start planning some rides with my dad and see where we end up. I'm going to try and talk him into riding to the National Rally with me next year (if I can swing the trip). Some of my best motorcycling memories are riding with my dad on different day trips. Now, we'll be able to make more great memories and have some great moments together.

Enjoy the time you get to spend with your pops. I would give anything to see mine again even for just a minute.

Great story. I enjoyed it. Wish my Dad were here to ride with me. Of course he would be 107 so he might not be able to ride. Never knew him to ride but he taught me how to drive and how to work on cars. Still using the knowledge learned from him everyday.

When my son was 5 I bought him a mini bike and he started riding. Now he is 44 and he is on his 4th bike, a Harley ( Iknow ! I know !) Anyway we ride together all the time. Been many places on trips and in 1 week from now we are going to the Grand Canyon. (NOT trailoring ). It will take about 4 days to get out there and 4 to get back as we only want to do about 550 miles a day.
I thank the good Lord everyday for him as I spent 6 months in the hospital and they told my family to come in for one last visit on 3 different occasions. I fooled em all , now they call me the miracle man. But ever since then my son has been my constant riding pard.
