What Jacket Should I Get?

I started looking for a new riding jacket since my other one got shredded in my incident last week. I was thinking of the ballistic nylon jacket with the armour pads in them. I like lots of pockets as well for storing stuff. A couple i Looked at were the Joe Rocket Alter Ego http://www.joerocketcanada.com/en/pr...xtile/ae_t.cfm and the Teknic Freeway Jacket http://www.teknicgear.com/freeway-jacket/

Im sure there are many others out there as well, but I think this is the style and type I will be leaning towards. Are there any that you guys think are superior, or better value, let me know. I would like to use it as a 3-4 season jacket from summer right into winter.

I have a tour master Intake that I really like.. the 3 season coat is really nice... however lately after finding some really really good deals on craigslist for leather I use it for rain 99 percent of the time now. I really liked the fit of a joe rocket I tried on, but think you'll be lacking on the pockets action.. so I bet the tek would be better for u. i've never tried one on though but.. after seeing the pic u posted.. I think I might need to check one out myself..

Tourmaster Air Intake 2. Mesh outer, wind and waterproof removable liner, removable thermal liner. I wear just the mesh in summer and the two liners in winter down into the 40's and it is fine.

Ring,

I have a Tourmaster Transitition 2 and really like it. It has several zipper openings for air flow and a liner for colder weather. I haven't used the liner in temps above 40*.

Steve, looking at the pic your neighbor took of you in the jacket I gotta say, it looks like it wasn't very heavy leather. Am I correct?
You also said your sleeves rode up your arms. Did the jacket have zippers on the forearms to make the jacket tight around your wrists?
I'm not being a wiseass I just was curious as to the quality of the jacket you had on.
I mean come on, you were wearing a 150 year old helmet. ;)

The wife and I just bought Tourmaster Flex 2's as I was looking for a jacket for pretty much every season. Really happy with them so far. Here's a promo vid.

I ride with a jacket from Fox Creek Leather. Heavy as hell, but boy, it's like having a whole cow hide to slide on should the wrong moment occur. I also ride with leather chaps from the same place or leather pants that I bought but I can't recall where. Admit I do cheat some times and just wear jeans but almost always the leather jacket...as the saying goes - dress for the crash, not for the ride. Just my thoughts.

I wear the Tour Master Intake as well. I wear it year round, temps down to 10 degrees.

Your correct Tim, it wasn't a heavy leather jacket, it was a comfy one with dome snaps around the wrists. Id had it for years just like my helmet ;) At least it stood up well and did its job.

I'll give the Tourmaster Jackets a closer look, never seen them before, but sounds like they would fit the bill. A good leather jacket would be awfully heavy, and I still want it to be comfortable or I'll end up not using it at all. Thats why Im leaning towards the textile jackets with the armour.

What Jacket Should I Get?

Had a first gear jacket once but did not use it. Pockets were hard to get to and not handy. I, like a jacket with lots of pockets on the outside and easy to use. Thinking about getting something to wear under a jacket for protection.

What Jacket Should I Get?

I have a Nitro and am not happy with it. It is heavy and with the liner out it is still too warm. Yesterday in 28C (82F) I was dying in it.

I am looking for something else and next one is going to be HiVis yellow.

I have a First Gear Scout jacket that is a leather rain jacket. It has armor and it is well made...Lots of pockets too. First Gear makes textile stuff as well. Look at their Kilimanjaro jacket. I would have gotten it if it came in my size. From what I can see, First Gear is higher quality than Tourmaster. You get what you pay for.
