Top of the World Highway

I'm back in Alaska again this year for my Reserve Duty. Over Memorial Day Weekend, I once again rented a bike and headed out for a little 1,196 mile ride. This year's journey took me to the Top of the World Highway and I crossed into the Yukon Province and FINALLY got a pic of a Welcome to Alaska sign.

Here is that 1,196 miles in under 12 minutes:

Thanks! 5FDP rocks! I'm so glad my 15 yr. old son likes and introduces me to good real rock - and he also appreciates classic rock . . . Too many of my nieces and nephews are into all that pop crap . . .

Thanks! I think I have one more tour up there . . . But unfortunately it will be before bike season as I am retiring from the Reserves early next summer. . .

Good video and beautiful country. What a great ride! Just curious...what was the longest stretch between gas stations?

I never measured the longest stretch between them . . . But I believe the longest would have been about 80 miles - From Tok to Chicken . . . Although, on my way into Tok on Friday, I almost made myself walk . . . I came up the Richardson and got to Delta Junction, which looked like a bit bigger of a dot on the map than what I was seeing . . . I had about 40 miles left on the tank and was about 60 miles out of Tok . . . At the Junction of the Richardson and the Alaska Highway, there was a station on the other side of the road, I figured I would catch the next one on the outskirts of town along the Alaskan . . . 4 miles later I hadn't passed any others, and the way ahead looked typical Alaska desolate . . . I made a wise choice and turned around and headed back to get gas - There were no other open stations between there and Tok . . .

So I followed my general rule for Alaska Motorcycle Riding - If I think about getting gas when I come to a station - don't question yourself - get gas . . .
