adding a radio

I have a 02 1500 nomad i am adding a radio and was thinking about connecting to the power connectors behind the headlight does anyone know if the power source is on the ignition switch?

Not sure on an '02. On the 1600's, it is constant power. Open the headlight and check it with a test light or meter with the ignition off.

It is unswitched power leads. Same as the ones under the fuel tank to the left of the radiator gap. It is a 10 amp fused accessory lead that has it's own circuit in the fuse block.

It is constant power on my 02, you could you those wires to connect the one power wire that stores the memory and clock on the radio, bur will also require a switched power wire to turn the radio on and off with the key..

That is what I have found..

On a side not, the drivers backrest you have on yours It's the Fire N Steel one, but the PAD looks different, did you change it? I saw them with the same design as the passenger backrest. Also how to you like it and how long have you had it on yours. I've been looking to get one now for more longer rides. Also getting older and find my back could use the extra support, but never rode with one before.

scott, i got my backrest online i think it is for a different year but it works.. i love it! my lower back would hurt after long rides but now its no problem. ya the lab is a pretty good match..i could'nt get to get on the seat. that would have been a good pic! lol....

scott, i check on the backrest and it's actually for a classic but fits the nomad. i did not realize it till after i got it but it fit fine so i am happy.

That makes sense why the pad looks different. I had one once, but it was for an 800 I think as it was narrower (I bought it on line on another forum from a member there) he said it would fit my nomad. I got it and it didn't the bolts were CLOSE, but once the seat was on (or rather it wouldn't) I saw the problem too narrow. I didn't want to cut it and ad a piece and have it welded, so no way to adjust it. I kept it for a couple of years hanging in the garage. I sold it last year locally and guy who bought it was happy. I am considering this one or one of the grasshopper ones. This one I can adjust for and aft better and if too far forward see how it can be MODIFIED now to move it REARWARD and found one for a good price. Even has the studs to match my Mustang seat (have to ensure it' s wide enough).
Thanks for the info. If I don't like it guess I can always sell it again, and it's even less than I paid for one that DIDN'T FIT ;)

I don't know about if their the fastest, But I do know those "Blondie" bikes are one of my favorite colors.

Thanks, and yep, been DarkSide for a good while, and those are Vance & Hines with the original Ultimate Baffles that got it all started.
