21 inch wheel

I have a 19 inch HD wheel presently mounted on my nomad 1700. I have a fender guard presently mounted as well.. Is there any way by having to raise the fender I could find someway to be able to keep the guard on as well

Looking into installing a 21' spoke wheel HD type

What's a fender guard and why won't it stay on as it is?

Think he is talking about the fender rail, goes around the front of the fender.

You might have to kick out the triple trees to prevent rubbing. The fender and guard may have to be adjusted so that they don't point upwards.

The guard bracket is secure thru the existing fender mounting hole.. pushing the fender up without keeping the guard rail with it would not work...

Ah. Gotcha. Why do you want to raise the fender? Assuming the wheel in your pic is the 19"er, it looks like it fits the way it is. All you really need is about 1/4-1/2" between the tire and fender. Unless you have ginormous hands, if you can fit the tip of your little (pinky) finger between the tire and fender, you've got plenty of room.

So you currently have a 19" wheel on there now (in the picture) and want to go with a 21"? If the guard attaches to the same hole(s) as are used to bolt the fender to the forks, what's the problem? You're going to have to mount the fender no matter how high it is. I assume you'll be reusing the stock holes already in the fender.

Have I missed something else?

How have you liked the 19" Wheel? I am thinking of an RC Components 19x3 wheel with 130/60/19 tire that will basically leave my overall diameter the same on my Vaquero.
Even though the stock wheel is 16x3.5, I would think it works just fine as HD usession a 19x3 as well. Proving very difficult to find a 19x3.5 so I've narrowed my choices to 19x3 or 18x3.5.
Don't want to mess with other parameters as would be necessary with 21".

Thanks for any insight you can give me!!

My 19 inch wheel looks good but took a lot of work to make it fit..had to file down the caliper mount since the wheel is slightly wider.

Had to have axle spacers machined as well and replace the abs to non abs bearing,

In all was a 2 week winter project.

Bike front height did not change much with low profile tire,,,does it ever right better... Very impressed in cornering

Hope that helps

Vulcanrider03, thanks for the info!! I plan on going with an RC Components wheel since they claim they have metric wheels that will be a straight swap to the Vaquero without any adapters needed for the stock rotors. I'm still deciding wheel style and tires. Did you also use the special Dunlop 407T tire on the front and/or rear?
I'm stuck between the MC IIs or going with the Harley tires.

My wheel came with a HD tire 130/90 mounted on it and I really like how it handles
