There are 57' trailers out there. I have NEVER seen a 47' truck (and I used to drive them). That would probably have a 400" wheelbase. I had an A model KW ('81 W900 ext. hood) with a 314" wheelbase and that was almost impossible to get around any city/town.

I believe the law states that a single truck can't be any longer than 40' without permit (buses/RVs are allowed to be 44'). With a 57' trailer (I have never seen one actually) that would be 1' over length. I also hold a Class A CDL. The laws for double and triples are different and I never wanted to drag anything that long so never got the endorsements.
