Have Magna.....will travel.

The story of "Paladin".......

Three years ago, I sold my 1998 Honda Magna nicknamed "Paladin". I really hated to sell it. I spent several years and mucho bucks fixing that Magna up with accessories to make it fit the Paladin theme. Remember the TV show "Have Gun Will Travel"? For a 750cc, it was an excellent bike. I put over 20,000 miles on it traveling the USA.

On September 17th, 2005, I sold Paladin to a lady in Canada. Now, keep in mind that I live in East Texas. She boarded a plane and flew to Dallas, then had a distant relative drive her to my house to pay me and pick up the Magna. She rode that Magna all the way back home to Vancouver, BC.

I hear from her from time-to-time as she and her husband (who rides a GoldWing), ride on trips. Recently she sent me a link to her blog where she chronicles her trip through 11 states for about 6000 miles. She and her husband left Aug 22nd and won't get back to Vancouver until the end of September.

I love my Nomad, but I have to admit, I miss Paladin.

She had some really nice pictures in there.

I think the Magna is the best bike to have been discontinued in the past decade.

You're probably right Dan....the Magna fell prey to the "twin" craze.

Its really good when you know your bike went to a home where someone really enjoys it and gets some use out of it rather than have it sit in the garage.

IN my opinion, that would be the Valkyrie, but the Magna was a nice bike.

You do have a point there CJ.....I would love to have a black Valkyrie sitting in my garage right next to my Nomad.

Now that the 2009 Nomad is out and I find that it's newly designed with some items I'm not sure about, maybe I'll get a Valk for my stable in the future rather than a new Nomad or Voyager.....??

Just thinking out loud.

Maybe someday Honda will bring it back.... the engine lives on in the VFR800 Interceptor!

I rode Judi's today, and it continues to amaze me.

Trip I sold my magna 5 years ago and have been looking for something to replace it every since I have had a Roadstar, then I bought a Goldwing and I liked them both but they were not what I was looking for, then I bought a 05 used Nomad and I love it but I would still like to have my Magna back.

I have an old (1984) V65 Sabre that I lost second gear in.If I ever get around to repairing and eventually restoring it It still has alot of miles left to go.
It is one of the best bikes I have ever owned.

Between myself and my brothers, we've had 4 V-65 Magnas back in the 80's. I would love to have one as a second bike now.

I wish that Honda would make a retro looking V-65 like Yamaha did with the Venture.

That was my very first motorcycle, an '84 V65. Man that thing would scare the crap outta you if you didn't know what you were doing with it. Butter smooth too.

Why was the Magna stopped? Poor sales or mechanical problems? I like Judy's with the stock exhaust; just a cool bike. Would be a neat bike to have for a 'daily' bike. Have the Nomad for a long distance bike and a Magna for a short to medium distance bike.
I don't see too many for sale. Hmm. They sound like a deal.

I think it was a great bike, always getting a "best" something award year after year in the magazines. I thing the V-Twin sales trend of the last ten years took too many buyers away and it just didn't have the sales to justify production costs.

In my opinion, the V-4 motor was about the best engine made for a motorcycle. But, as Dan points out, the twin craze probably killed it.

My very first motorcycle was an '83 VF750 Magna. Nimble and flickable.
