drivers backrest

Hi... I'm a new owner and loving this bike. The last "big bike" I had was a 99 Yamaha Venture.... until the deer took me out.
Can someone please recommend a maker of a good backrest. I don't want to change the saddle Just looking for a back rest for this ol' back of mine.
Cheers
Rickyboy

Scootworks seems to have some decent backrests for the nomad. You don't have to change out the stock seats (drivers or passengers) they have different types so you can probably find something you like. That's my next purchase.

I installed a Utopia back rest and it works great. The rest fits into the passenger seat by installing the steel framework under it and cutting a small space up thru the seat to slip the backrest shaft down into it. Adjusts up and down as well as the angle that fits you best.

I also chose the Utopia. I wouldn't trade it for anything else!! Not a difficult install; just pull some staples, mount the bracket, and re-staple the cover, and viola!

I am looking for a drivers backrest also. The Utopia looks to me like it would realy infringe on the passenger space. Don't want to do that ;)
Backup makes a rest I think looks good but they don't have a picture on their websit for the 1600 Nomad. I want one that comes up between the seats and fastenes to the rear fender or passenger seat bracket under the seat.
The ones with a hoop or roll bar fastener like the Fire and Steel rests look like they would get in the way of the passengers legs as we ride.
Anybody know how these work or have other ideas let me know.

I actually found a pic for the BakUP, apparently you have to click on the link titled "fully adjustable." I think this is the one I'm going to purchase. It's similar to the Utopia, but doesn't require much in terms of install e.g. don't need to alter passenger rest - I have an aversion to cutting holes in my seat - bike still too new I guess. The seats I looked at e.g. CW seem ok, but bars look unsightly. BakUp looks like everything is neatly installed under the seat. Only problem is that it is the most costly of options of all backrest I've seen so far.

Yeah the bakup is the rest I'm thinking of getting also. I still need to see it in person or get a guarentee from them that it attaches the way i want it to. I have emailed them twice with no response.

..has anyone tried the F+S driver backrest. I have mustang seats and the pillion seems to be about 2 in. wider than the stock seat. Anyone tried this combination? Any other options been tried along with Mustang seats?
