2013 = Let's Ride!

Snows on the ground here in north central Iowa but it seems to be melting away a little. The snow machines are running the ditches but the rivers have not iced up to be safe yet. The highways are good but the occasional 6 degrees are not so good.

This is the time of the year when bikers start thinking about the coming ride season. The VBA Rally in Colorado will be another great rally to enjoy and remember. Just riding down to the corner market sounds like a great thing right now.

I'd like to go out in the garage and fire up Ol' BiscruitsNGravy just to hear him run, but he's up in Sibley, IA now being fitted for a new sidecar. I'm looking forward to learn how to ride and steer in a new way. From what I've read, I'm supposed to practice on a big parking lot before I really know what I'm doing. And what I do will be an "iffy" decision, but fun. I'm supposed to be able to ride it home sometime in May. Keep yer fingers crossed for me, will ya?

In the meantime, my friends, keep the home fires burning, your powder dry, and drink responsibly. Have a real good 2013! BnG

Well, when I let Iowa a little over 3weeks a go there was no snow on the ground. The state will look different when I get back, with most places having about a foot of snow on the ground.Hopefully most of it will melt.

Hey Dave, I am looking forward to seeing that Nomad with a sidecar. I had the cover off of mine today and sat on her and made revving noises. As my wife would say, I have "PMS". That is parked motorcycle syndrome. We are headed to Las Vegas on Jan. 31 and I have rented a Harley Davidson for the 2nd of February. They do not know that I will put every one of the allotted 200 miles on that machine and maybe a few more. Maybe that day of riding will put my condition into remission. See you in June if not before.

I will be riding with my sister-in-laws fiance' who rides a Harley Ultra. Them Harley guys can only ride from bar to bar so I think I will be lucky to get in 200 miles Seriously though, I will have my wife with me and we plan on touring the dam and doing some other sight seeing. Believe me, if I was riding solo I would ride from 9a.m. to 9a.m., which is the rental time. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope to get 400-500 miles in, which is a normal Saturday ride for me. I am anxious to get a full day in the saddle of an Ultra, I do think that Harleys are great bikes.

There are a few VBAers down here in the valley of the sun too... Vegas is about 5 hours away.
